Friday Premier League – West Bromwich Albion vs Chelsea Preview

May 12, 2017 20:00pm – The Hawthorns

Recent Form (League):

West Brom: DWWLW

Chelsea: WWLWD

Champions elect Chelsea travel to the Midlands to face West Bromwich Albion knowing a win will regain them the Premier League title. The two sides could not be in more contrasting form.

Antonio Conte’s men have won 15 out of a possible 18 points and sit second in the form table over the last six games. Meanwhile, West Brom manager Tony Pulis has watched his team struggle both defensively and offensively, as a result of which they are rooted to the bottom of the form table. A record of just two points from 18 with no clean sheets in five games and only two goals scored makes dreary reading for any Baggies fan.

The Blues on the other hand have scored in all but one of their last six games, their only blank coming in the defeat at the hands of Manchester United. Since then, Conte’s men have scored at least three times in every game.

The head-to-head statistics also add to the woes of any one faintly hoping the title race goes into another week, The Stamford Bridge side have only lost three times in the last 25 games against their opponents, a run that included 15 consecutive wins, and also are unbeaten in the last eight encounters.

N’Golo Kante is expected to return for the Londoners and could be the first outfield player in Premier League history to win back-to-back titles with two different clubs; this coupled with winning the Football Writers’ Player of the Year and the PFA Player of the Year, and with an FA Cup final still to look forward too.

It has been an exceptional year for Chelsea, after finishing 10th in the league last season they are the verge of winning their fourth Premier League title and a possible double as the Conte revolution has an immediate effect.

Despite their current wretched run of form, the Midland side have surpassed last years points tally and a recent study revealed that Albion had spent a league low £1.47m per point gained this term. What’s more, they are set to offer Pulis a contract extension.

Prediction: Chelsea will not be denied a title winning victory and a Win to Nil is highly likely.
