In Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off game, Swansea City will take to the field in front of their home crowd for the very first time this season when they welcome big-spenders Manchester United to the Liberty stadium.

The home side somehow came away with a point from last weekend’s visit to Southampton and will be looking to build on that result here. The Saints’ poor finishing prevented what should have been an easy win for the home side in and Paul Clement will be fully aware that his side will not always be able to rely on such fortune.

The Swans have lost just one of their last 12 matches at home (in all competitions) and have won their last three on home soil in the Premier League. However, they are likely to be without Fernando Llorente and Gylfi Sigurdsson has now been sold to Everton.

Meanwhile, Manchester United will look to maintain their 100% record after cruising to a 4-0 win over West Ham United last weekend. New boy Romelu Lukaku netted twice in that game and appears to have wasted no time in settling in at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils stumbled away from home at the end of last season, failing to win any of their last four, although they did face three of the top five in that spell. However, they did come out on top in this fixture last term, easing to a 3-1 win.

This weekend, they have an extra £140m worth of players on board while Swansea have seen over £50m of talent leave via the exit door over the summer. As a result, an routine away win should be expected here.

Ashley Young, Luke Shaw and Marcus Rojo are all still out of action for the Old Trafford side but that should not affect their chances here.

Prediction

United performed well on the road against the weaker teams last year, winning eight of their last 10 away games against teams outside the top eight. Since then, they have strengthened their attack while Swansea’s has been somewhat weakened, making an away win the most likely outcome.

Punters should also consider backing Romelu Lukaku in the first and anytime goal score markets.
