The standout game of this weekend’s Premier League schedule is undoubtedly Sunday afternoon’s clash between third-ranked Liverpool and fifth-ranked Tottenham Hotspur.

With just two points separating the two clubs, there is plenty to play for and the home side will be out for revenge after falling 4-1 in the reverse fixture back in October. Following that defeat, Jurgen Klopp’s men put together an 18-game unbeaten run in all competitions that finally came to an end at Swansea just under a fortnight ago. A subsequent FA Cup defeat to West Bromwich Albion followed before normal service was resumed with a 3-0 win away from home at Huddersfield last week.

The front three of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah have bagged 36 league goals between them this season, so goals could once again be on the agenda. The Merseysiders have scored 11 goals in their last three Premier League home matches and are the league’s second highest scorers.

Meanwhile, Spurs will be looking to improve on their recent away form which has produced just two wins from their last eight in the league. They have already lost at Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal and will be looking to avoid a full house of defeats away to top-six teams, with Chelsea still to play.

Harry Kane already has 21 goals to his name this term and Son Heung-Min has also been in great form, bagging eight goals this term. Those two are expected to be supported from midfield by new signing Lucas Moura. With great attacking quality at each end of the pitch, it promises to be an open and exciting game that should test both defensive line-ups

Prediction

Historically, this game has not always been high-scoring but the last meeting of the current incarnations of these sides produced five goals and there is no reason to suggest that either team will be holding back this weekend.

As a result, the Over/Under Goals market could be worth exploring with Over 3.5 Goals available at a best price of 8/5 with Betfair. Alternatively, the Over 2.5 Goal bet also looks good value at 4/6. Also with Betfair.
