Having reached the final of the Champions League in two of the last three editions, Juventus can once again be considered as one of Europe’s elite, a status that Tottenham Hotspur have yet to achieve. The Italians were thwarted by Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona in those finals and will head into this knockout tie as favourites.

The team from Turin haven’t lost at home in this competition since 2013 and they come into this game having won their last 11 competitive matches conceding just a single goal in th process. In fact, they have now kept a remarkable 15 clean sheets in their last 16 matches.

Despite Juve’s obvious credentials, Tottenham will be coming into this match full of confidence after beating rivals Arsenal in the North London derby, a win that took their unbeaten run to 12 games in all competitions. What’s more, they will be buoyed by the fact that they won five of their six group stages matches to get here, a run that included wins over Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.

The biggest concern for Mauricio Pochettino’s men will be their away form which has seen them win just three of their last 12 on their travels. And of course, this is their first appearance in the knockout stages of the Champions League since 2011. That lack of experience could be the key factor although they do have the advantage of playing the second league on home soil.

Prediction

The defensive record of the Italians certainly gives them the edge here and a home win looks like a decent bet at a price of Evens. While Under 2.5 Goals also looks great value at 4/6 with Betfair.

In the Anytime Goal Scorer market look no further than Gonzalo Higuain. The Argentine is in great form having netted in his last four games, to take his season’s total to 18 in all competitions, and is available at 7/5 with Betfair.
