Liverpool can still grab six spot in the Premier League but may be more concerned with preparing for next week’s Europa League final in Basel. Meanwhile, with just two games left to play, Wednesday night’s opponents Chelsea can do little more than consolidate eighth place in the league.

The Reds have just a week left to prepare before they take to the field in what will be their first European final since the Champions League defeat to AC Milan in Athens back in 2007.

With little left to play for in the league and a Champions League place up for grabs in Basel, Jurgen Klopp may once again take the opportunity to rest some of his key players for Wednesday night’s clash at Anfield.

The Merseyside team come into this game on the back of a 2-0 win at home to Watford on Sunday in which Joe Allen and Roberto Firmino provided the goals in a much-changed line-up.

Daniel Sturridge may get another run-out against his former club as he continues his return to peak fitness at just the right time for club and country.

Chelsea’s Premier League season has fizzled out somewhat with just two victories recorded in their last eight games. Both of those wins came away from home but against teams in the current bottom-five (Aston Villa and Bournemouth).

The Blues come into this match on the back of a 3-2 defeat away to relegation battlers Sunderland. Guus Hiddink’s men were leading 2-1 at the break but were unable to prevent a determined fight back from Sam Allardyce’s men.

Prediction

This season can’t end soon enough for Chelsea who are now just going through the motions. Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 15 matches at Anfield in all compeitions.

You can back the Reds to sign off their final home game with a win at 19/20 with Betfair.
