The top 5 of the ATP tennis rankings list remained unchanged this week with Novak Djokovic heading the list ahead of Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Stan Wawrinka and Tomas Berdych.

There was only one change in the top 10 as David Ferrer jumped ahead of Canadian Milos Raonic into sixth place. The Spaniard made it to the final of the ATP 500 clay-court event in Hamburg on Sunday but was beaten by the Leonardo Mayer from Argentina. Mayer’s first ATP World Tour title has lifted him 19 places up to No. 27 in the world – an all-time high ranking position for the 27-year-old.

Last year’s champion in Hamburg, Fabio Fognini, only made it to round two in 2014 and the Italian has now slipped to 20th in the world. Argentine Federico Delbonis also suffered an early round exit in Hamburg – at the hands of German wild card Tobias Kamke – and the 6-3 6-4 defeat cost him a twenty place drop to 56th in the world. The clay court specialist will now be hoping to bounce back in Gstaad this week.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Roberto Bautista Agut and Tommy Robredo were the only other players to move up in this week’s Top 20 but no one made a significant move towards the top ten.

The biggest mover in the top 100 was Australian Bernard Tomic who jumped 54 places to World No.70 after victory in the Claro Open in Colombia. This was a significant victory for the controversial 21-year-old who had double hip surgery in January and was dropped by his management company last week.

As the US hard court season begins, all eyes will now be on the upcoming US Open which takes place in New York at the end of August. As this final Grand Slam event approaches, it seems more and more likely that we may be treated to another Djokovic v Nadal final. Andy Murray is out of form and still not fully fit while Roger Federer has the form but may just lack the stamina to endure a gruelling five set match against either of the top two.

Nadal has had a few blips this season but he is due another big performance and he will be keen to defend this title. He has a chance to win his third US Open in five years and leads Djokovic 2-1 in US Open head to heads. An early price of 18/5 for the Spaniard looks very good value.
