Matches in the Barclays Premiership resume Saturday 15th October  with,

Chelsea v Leicester City at 12.30.

West Brom v Tottenham at 15.00

Bournemouth v Hull City at 15.00.

Crystal Palace v West Ham at 17.30.

Players rest before the FIFA Word Cup Group F qualifier on Saturday 8th October ,

England v Malta at 17.00.

Playing Malta at home should be a straight forward match for England’s international players.  England where moving forward rudderless following the departure of Sam Allardyce after just 67 days. Gareth Southgate will steady the ship for the next 4 games. Allardyce departed after an undercover newspaper operation found him giving advice on how to side step rules on player transfers; not to the liking of the Football Association.

Another blow for England is that Adam Lallana will not be playing due to an injury picked up in Liverpool’s match against Swansea City.  Lallana has proved instrumental to the new England team successes recently, including a late strike against Slovenia that won the match.

Arsene Wenger and Mauricio Pochettino  have both said they would be open to the role in the future.  Even Eric Cantona has even thrown his hat into the ring, with some funny ideas for how to make the England national team win.  Broadcast on Eurosport the self proclaimed commissioner of football asks viewers to vote, #cant0-yes if you want him or #cant0-no if you don’t.

Surprisingly Gareth Southgate is fifth in the running with odds of 10/1, after Steve Bruce, Eddie Howe, and Glenn Hoddle.  Arsene Wenger is 22/1 and Mauricio Pochettino is not in the running as he’s doesn’t want the job just yet.

Gareth Southgate will pick his England Squad on Sunday 2nd October for England’s World Cup qualifier against Malta on Saturday.  Wayne Rooney’s position as captain has already be confirmed.  His position at Manchester United may not be as secure with Jose Mourinho wanting to keep the team at the top of the table (the hatchet is out and a manger like Mourinho will use it).

Let’s see if there are any changes to the squad or if Southgate will keep the status quo before the FA decide who will take the team forward.
