Brighton & Hove Albion vs Southampton
English Premier League
Saturday 30th March – 15:00
Brighton & Hove Albion and Southampton meet at the Amex Stadium in what could be a massive relegation six-pointer, with both teams sitting perilously close to the Premier League drop zone.
Brighton & Hove Albion Form
Brighton come into this match having seemingly hit decent form of late. Having gone seven league matches without a win in 2019, they have won their last two and also made it through to the Semi Finals of the FA Cup.
Last time out in the Premier League, goals from Glenn Murray and Anthony Knockaert gave them a vital 2-1 victory away to bitter rivals Crystal Palace.
They now sit five points outside the relegation zone and victory here would see them move a step nearer securing their Premier League survival for another season.
Southampton
Southampton picked up an unexpected but vital win in their last Premier League outing, coming from behind to beat third placed Tottenham 2-1.
That made it two wins in their last three league matches and leaves the Saints two points above the drop zone.
However, they have struggled away from home recently and have picked up just one point from their last three on the road in the Premier League.
Head to Head
The last three league meetings between these sides have finished level, including a 2-2 draw last time out in a match that saw Brighton come from 2-0 down to secure a point thanks to a late penalty.
Southampton have a slight edge with regards head to head, having picked up two victories in the last six meetings, but these teams are pretty evenly matched.
Team News
Both Pascal Gross and Florin Andone face late fitness tests for Brighton, having both missed the last couple of matches. Gross has sat out three games with a hamstring injury whilst Andone pulled out of the recent trip to Crystal Palace and also missed the FA Cup quarter final against Millwall.
Yves Bissouma is also available for the hosts having served a suspension against Millwall.
Southampton could be given a much needed boost by the returns of striker Danny Ings and midfielder Mario Lemina. Both have been out for a while but are nearing a return to full fitness and could be named in the matchday squad.
Betting Odds
Both teams are dangerously close to the drop zone and pretty evenly matches, so it’s no surprise to see the betting odds reflecting this.
Brighton are a slight favourite, priced at 13/8 with Betfair. Southampton are 21/10 and the draw is priced at 2/1. With the last three league meetings ending all-square, the draw looks to be a solid bet at a pretty decent price.
Both teams have also scored in the last three league meetings and it’s priced at a decent 11/10 for both teams to score in this match.
