With just 10 days to go before the third Grand Slam of 2015 gets underway in London, tennis betting fans are eagerly watching the warm-up events to get an idea of who is in top form on grass. Let’s Compare Bets will be keeping an eye on the action and looking at the latest betting prices and profit opportunities in the build up to the main event.
The AEGON Championships, also known as the Queens’s Club Championships, is the most significant event in the pre-Wimbledon calendar. The London event was upgraded to an ATP Tour 500 event and features 32 of the world’s best players. The courts at Queen’s Club are amongst the very best in the world and perhaps provide the most similar conditions to Wimbledon itself. No. 1 tournament seed Andy Murray will be expected to do well here and could win a fourth title to add to his 2009, 2011 and 2013 crowns.
With No. 2 seed and French Open champion Stan Wawrinka dumped out by Kevin Anderson in the Round of 16, and Stuttgart winner Rafa Nadal falling at the first hurdle, Murray’s price has plummeted even further. Canada’s Milos Raonic represents perhaps the biggest threat to the Scot’s challenge. With Murray’s recent good form and his fondness for this event, the current price of 4/7 available at Betfair ahead of Friday’s Quarter-final looks pretty good value.
Also taking place this week is the Gerry Weber Open at Halle in Germany. A favourite grass event of Roger Federer, this tournament also ranks as a 500 event and attracts a strong field. Federer may have to fend off the likes of Kei Nishikori, Ivo Karlovic and Gael Monfils is he is to bag an eighth title at the German event. Federer can also be backed at 4/7 ahead of his Quarter-finals.
