Manchester United vs Watford

English Premier League

Saturday 30th March – 15:00

Manchester United look to pick up another three points to keep their challenge for a top four finish alive but will face a task test against an eighth placed Watford side on a high after reaching the last four of the FA Cup.

Manchester United Recent Form

Defeat at Arsenal last time out ended a run of twelve league games unbeaten for Manchester United and left them in fifth place in the Premier League table, two points behind the Gunners.

However, their home form has been fantastic this season with only one defeat as hosts in the league to Tottenham back in August which puts them on a run of twelve league games without a loss as hosts.

If they are to keep their hopes of Champions League qualification alive, United must get back to winning ways straight away and hope the teams above them have a blip.

Watford Form

Victory over Crystal Palace last weekend put Watford into the last four in the FA Cup, giving them something to play for as their current eighth place and points tally means they will comfortably finish mid table in the league this season.

They have struggled away from home of late, with victory over third bottom of the table Cardiff City being their only away league win in the last five.

Head to Head

Manchester United have a clear head to head advantage over Watford, winning fourteen of the last fifteen meetings including the last four.

A 2-1 away win for United in September was the most recent meeting, and Watford’s last win over today’s opponents came in 2016.

Team News

Romelu Lukaku, who had netted four goals in two games before defeat at Arsenal, is a major doubt for this match having withdrawn from the Belgium squad with a foot injury. Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard, and Marcus Rashford are all also potentially missing for this match and will likely face late fitness tests.

Jose Holebas appears to be Watford’s only major doubt, but may feature in the matchday squad if he can prove his fitness in time.

Betting Odds

Manchester United are 2/5 favourites to pick up the victory in this match, and that is the most likely outcome considering their home form and Watford’s poor recent away record. The visitors are priced at 7/1 with betfair and the draw could be a tempting bet at odds of 18/5.

United have netted two or more goals in four of their last five matches and it’s priced at 11/4 for them to score over 1.5 goals in this match.
