Sat 30 Nov 2013 17:30 – Newcastle v West Brom (St James’ Park)

Referee: Phil Dowd

Newcastle seem to be finding some form again this season and have only lost one game at home. This week they welcome West Brom to St James’ Park and the Baggies can also boast an away record that also contains just a single defeat. That defeat came against Liverpool at Anfield but Steve Clarke’s team have recorded a win at Old Trafford and draws at Everton, Chelsea, Stoke and Fulham.

Newcastle are expecting Stephen Taylor and Ryan Taylor to return from injury this weekend and West Brom could welcome back Ridgewell, Jones, Sinclair and Foster after their recent absences.

Newcastle score an average of 1.5 goals per game at home and concede an average of 1. West Brom score an average of 1 goal per game away from home and concede an average of 1.3. There is an even split on the under/over2.5 goals market for both teams but the corner statistics are weighted heavily in favour of there being more than 10.5 in this game.

This promises to be an interesting game with both teams enjoying a good record in their respective home and away fixtures, in fact, either team could edge this game by a single goal. As a result, it is much easier to be look at a score draw as the most likely outcome.

Match prediction: Newcastle 1-1 West Brom
