As Lewis Hamilton has been pushed back to sixth slot in qualification for the British GP it has given us a good Betfair trading opportunity. Hamilton’s partner Nico Rosberg also driving for Mercedes has qualified in Pole position.
Lewis Hamilton’s sixth position was produced by a simple error which has possibly thrown his odds out to a value position which will surely shorten as the race progresses. A back bet made before the race starts should enable traders to close out later for a nice profit as the odds shorten. The odds currently sit at 3.45 on Betfair or fixed odds of 5/2.
Silverstone plays to the strengths of the Mercedes cars with a beautifully sweeping track design not to pound the braking system like the jerky tight tracks in Canada and Austria. It is all about high speed corners that reward good aerodynamic downforce. Mercedes F1 cars do this well.
The only possibly spoiler is the of course the Great British weather. Storms are a possibility, but, surely this will affect all the drivers (but not necessarily the cars) in a similar way.
