Two sides who like to play open and expansive football will go head-to-head on Friday night as top-of-the-table Wolverhampton Wanderers take on 16th-ranked Fulham in the English Championship.

While both sides favour a passing game, it is the home team who have put it to better effect this term under Portuguese boss Nuno.  Wolves have powered their way to the top of the table with a league-best haul of 27 goals from 15 games. At the other end of the pitch, their defence has been equally reliable, with only four teams having conceded less than the Midland side.

Meanwhile, despite their positive attitude to the game, Fulham have struggled to finish teams off on a regular basis, drawing seven of the 15 games they have played so far this term. They are conceding too many goals and not scoring enough, highlighting the fact that passing accuracy and possession is of little use without productivity in the key areas.

It is now 10 games since the Londoners kept a clean sheet in the Championship and that will be a concern to boss Slavia Jokanovic. What’s more, they have only picked up two points in their last four games and have plummeted down the table as a result.

Prediction

Much of Wolves’ success has been due to the fact that they have a reliable goal scorer leading the line. Leo Bonatini has already netted nine times this season and looks like a good pick in the goal scorer markets.

With that in mind, it is hard to imagine anything other than a home win here. Fulham have not been convincing in recent weeks, while Wolves are unbeaten in their last five at home. In fact, their only defeat at the Molineux came against title rivals Cardiff City. In addition, Wolves have been victorious in four of the last five encounter between the two clubs.

You can back Wolves to win at 17/20 and Leo Bonatini to score anytime at 17/10 – both with Betfair.
