AFC Bournemouth will go in search of their first points of the season when they welcome a rejuvenated Brighton and Hove Albion side to the Vitality stadium on Friday night.

Only a Crystal Palace side who have yet to score a single goal are keeping Eddie Howe’s men off the bottom of the Premier League table. The South Coast club have only managed one goal themselves and have yet to register a single point in the current campaign. A home game against one of the league’s newcomers should give them the chance to rectify that although Brighton will have other ideas.

The Cherries only lost two of their last 11 league matches last season, so their poor start has come as a bit of a surprise, especially after spending more than £30m in the summer.

Meanwhile, Brighton and Hove Albion have recovered from their own shaky start which saw them lose their first two matches back in the top flight. Chris Hughton’s men picked up their first point with a draw at Watford and followed that up with a home win over in-form West Bromwich Albion.

That win lifted the Seagulls to 14th place in the table above big spending Everton and former Premier League champions Leicester City.

Prediction

The fear of losing a fifth-straight game might prompt a slightly more cautious approach from the usually adventurous home side. With that in mind, the draw looks like a good bet. Brighton managed to hold Watford to a goalless draw at Vicarage Road and could repeat that feat here.

You can back the draw at 9/4 with Betfair.
