West Bromwich Albion will look to extend their unbeaten run to three games when they host Stoke City at the Hawthorns on Sunday afternoon. The visitors themselves will be looking to build on last week’s win over Arsenal. Both sides come into this game on the back of midweek League Cup wins against lower league opposition.
The Baggies may have only faced Burnley and Bournemouth so far but they passed both of those tests and will now be hoping to make it three from three against teams that could be considered mid-table rivals.
In typical Tony Pulis style, both league wins came courtesy of 1-0 score-lines and were followed up by a convincing 3-1 win over Accrington Stanley in the EFL Cup. Their attack has benefitted from the arrival of Jay Rodriguez, while Ahmed Hegazy has already made an impact, scoring on his debut.
The Midland side will be without Gareth McAuley, while Claudio Yacob and Jonny Evans are both doubtful.
Meanwhile, Stoke City defied the odds to earn all three points at home to Arsenal last weekend. That followed a drab display on the opening day against Everton and preceded their 4-0 League Cup win over lowly Rochdale.
However, Mark Hughes’ men have won just two of their last 13 Premier League away matches and have won just one of their last eight clashes with West Brom.
The Potters will have to make do without the injured trio of Julien Ngoy, Ibrahim Afellay and Stephen Ireland, while Xherdan Shaqiri is doubtful once again.
Prediction
Despite their decent start, the home side are well priced to win this game and that good value can be improved even further by adding Under 2.5 Goals to the equation.
