Crystal Palace vs Newcastle preview
Saturday November 28, 2015 15:00pm – Selhurst Park
Recent Form
Crystal Palace: LWDLL
Newcastle: LWDLW
Unpredictable Crystal Palace will try to avoid slipping into the bottom half of the table on Saturday when they welcome relegation candidates Newcastle United to Selhurst Park in the Barclays Premier League.
Alan Pardew faces old club
With six wins, six defeats and just a single draw to their name, Crystal Palace are one of the most unpredictable teams in the league. This trait was demonstrated perfectly last week when they followed up a strong away win at Liverpool with a home loss to struggling Sunderland.
Four of the Eagles’ six defeats have come on home soil and they have managed just three goals in their last five games at their London base. They have won just one of their last five at home with their last win coming against West Bromwich Albion back at the beginning of October.
Pardew will be without Bakary Sako, Kwesi Appiah and Dwight Gayle when he squares up against his old club.
Newcastle improvement negligible
Newcastle’s form has gone from terrible at the start of the season to just plain bad in recent weeks. After losing six and drawing two of their first eight games, they recovered slightly to record two wins in their last five but their performance have barely improved. In fact, they were completely outplayed at Bournemouth but somehow managed to come away with all three points. Last weekend, they were totally dominated on home soil by surprise league leaders Leicester City.
Newcastle’s dismal season has not been helped by injury issues and Toon boss Steve McClaren still has a list of ten players either unavailable or doubtful for the clash with Palace.
Prediction
Newcastle have scored just two goals away from home all season and Palace have failed to score in three of their last five at home. Under 2.5 goals can be backed at Evens with Bet365.
