Wolfsburg will play host to Manchester United at the VfL Wolfsburg Arena on Tuesday night in this crucial UEFA Champions’ League Group B showdown. The game will take place six years to the day since the teams last met in the competition – a game that United won by three goals to one in Germany.

Wolfsburg need draw to progress

Wolfsburg are currently occupying top spot in Group B but still need at least a point to guarantee qualification for the knockout phase of the tournament. If they lose to Manchester United, they will have hope that PSV fail to beat CSKA Moscow at home in order to progress.

A win would guarantee a first-place finish in the group for Dieter Hecking’s men and a draw would also see them advance to the last 16 for the very first time. Last weekend, their 29-game unbeaten run at home in the Bundesliga was finally brought to end by Borussia Dortmund.

Julian Draxler has returned to the German squad and Luiz Gustavo could also feature after a spell out with injury.

A nervy night ahead for the Red Devils

Manchester United are trailing their German opponents by just a single point in Group B but only a win will guarantee their progression to the Round of 16. If they draw on Tuesday they will have to hope that CSKA Moscow can grab at least a point from their trip to the Netherlands in the other group game.

United have drawn their last three games in all competitions, the most recent of which was a 0-0 stalemate against West Ham in the Premier League on Saturday.

Louis van Gall will have to make do without Wayne Rooney, Marcos Rojo and Antonio Valencia for this clash.

The Germans won both of their other group games without conceding a goal and will be looking to repeat that feat on Tuesday against a team that has yet to win away in Group B. The home win can be backed at 11/8 with Bet365.

All eight of Bas Dost’s goals have been scored at home this season. You can back the Wolfsburg man to score anytime at 6/4 with Betfair.
