Chelsea will look to round off their pre-season tour in winning fashion when they take on Inter Milan in Singapore on Saturday before heading back to the UK for a Community Shield clash with Arsenal.

This game will complete a schedule of three friendly fixtures which has so far produced a 3-0 win against the Gunners and a 2-3 defeat to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich. A win in this fixture would give them some momentum ahead of next weekend’s Premier League curtain raiser at Wembley Stadium.

Antonio Conte’s men looked decidedly flat-footed in the first hour against Bayern Munich on Tuesday and now face a team that beat the Germans 2-0 just a couple of days later. While reaching match fitness and bedding in new players will be the priority, there is no doubt that a win would help on a psychological level.

Newly signed Spanish striker Alvaro Morata made his debut in the last half hour against Bayern and will be hoping he can make more of an impact in this encounter.

While big-spending AC Milan have been getting all the headlines in the Italian city, Inter have been quietly going about their business. Under new boss Luciano Spalletti, they have drafted in Milan Skrirar, Facundo Colidio and Borja Valero for a total of £30m and have had a decent pre-season including a 2-0 win over Bayern Munich last time out. Other notable results include a win over Lyon and a 1-1 draw away to Schalke 04.

Due to the timing of this game, this could be a more competitive encounter than some of their previous matches, as their English opponents finalize their pre-season preparations. As a result, Inter’s credentials for the coming season might be easier to judge after this game.

Prediction

Chelsea have been prolific scorers of late and that has continued in the off-season. All but one of their last 10 games has paid out in the Over 2.5 Goals market and that looks like the choice bet once again here.
