Arsenal will be looking for their first win in three games on Saturday when they host relegation candidates Sunderland at the Emirates Stadium in the Barclays Premier League.

Gunners out of sorts

After rising to the top of the league table, Arsenal have slipped back down to fourth after a pair of draws against Tottenham and Norwich, either side of a disappointing defeat to West Brom. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger will be keen to bag all three points at home to lowly Sunderland to avoid slipping out of the top four. If Arsenal lose on Saturday they could be overtaken by their North London rivals Tottenham. In their last game, they were held to a uninspiring 1-1 draw at Norwich.

The North Londoners will be buoyed by the fact that they have not lost at home since the first day of the season when West Ham were the visitors.

Sunderland making steady progress

Curing Sunderland’s ailments was never going to be a quick job for Sam Allardyce, but after three wins in five games, things could finally be looking up for fans of the northeast club. Back-to-back wins against Crystal Palace and Stoke have lifted the Black Cats out of the relegation zone heading into December. A pair of consecutive clean sheets would have also provided some extra satisfaction for the Mackem’s.

Prediction

Sunderland may be experiencing a mini-revival but the Gunners are strong at home. Wenger’s men have conceded just two goals at home in the last five games and can be backed to Win to Nil at 5/6 with Bet365.
