In-form Everton will attempt to extend their four-game unbeaten run on Monday when they welcome seventh-ranked Crystal Palace to Goodison Park in the Barclays Premier League.
Everton looking to leapfrog Palace
Everton can rise above their opponents in the Premier League table with a win on Monday night. Roberto Martinez’s side have won their last two home matches and have scored 10 goals in the process, however, both of those games were against teams in the bottom-three at the time. They now face a side that are one point and two places above them in the table.
In their last league game, the Toffees shared the spoils in a dramatic 3-3 draw away to Bournemouth. With the scores at 2-2, Ross Barkley scored what appeared to be the winner in the fifth minute of injury time only for Bournemouth to strike back shortly after the restart.
Everton could welcome back Bryan Oviedo and James McCarthy but will be without Phil Jagielka and Tony Hibbert for the visit of the Londoners.
Palace back on Merseyside
Alan Pardew takes his side to Liverpool for the second consecutive away game this weekend. On their last visit to the city, they came away with all three points after beating Jurgen Klopp’s men 2-1 at Anfield. Palace have yet to draw a game away from home having won four and drawn two on the road.
In their last league match, the Eagles eased to 5-1 win over a beleaguered Newcastle side despite going a goal down after just 10 minutes. Defeat this weekend could cut Palace even further adrift of the European qualification places.
Meanwhile, Alan Pardew will have to make do without Bakary Sako and Kwesi Appiah, while Dwight Gayle is in line for a return.
