AFC Bournemouth can take a step closer to securing their inclusion in next year’s Premier League roster on Saturday, against a Manchester City side who are facing a battle to remain in the top four.

It would take an unlikely chain of results to deny AFC Bournemouth a place in next season’s Premier League line up, but boss Eddie Howe has warned that they need to remain focused until their status is officially secured. The Cherries have already surpassed many people’s expectations this season with their mid-table performance levels.

With a bright young manager at the helm and a strong set-up behind the scenes, the South Coast side could become a familiar fixture in the top flight.

In their last game, they were well beaten (3-0) away to title hopefuls Tottenham Hotspur. They will be hoping to bounce back this week against their inconsistent opponents.

While Bournemouth look to have achieved their league objective, Manchester City’s Premier League campaign has veered seriously off track. The pre-season title favourites are now 15 points adrift of the leaders with just one game in hand and are in danger of missing out on the top four.

The Sky Blues are sat in fourth place, just a point ahead of chasing West Ham United and Manchester United. Last time out, they fell 1-0 at home to their Manchester rivals and in the week preceding, they could only manage a 0-0 draw at Norwich City. In total, they have won just one of their last six Premier League encounters and that win came at home to disaster club Aston Villa.

Their cause this weekend will not be helped by the potential absence of several key players including Joe Hart, Yaya Toure, Raheem Sterling and Vincent Kompany.

Prediction

Bournemouth have prevailed in three of their last five league matches at home, while City have won just two in 10 on the road.
