Newly-crowned Scottish champions Celtic can secure a historic treble this weekend with a win over second-ranked Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup Final at Hampden Park. The teams also met in the final of this year’s Scottish League Cup with the Glasgow club coming out on top by a 3-0 scoreline on that occasion.
Brendan Rodger’s men won the league title without losing a game, a feat which has earned them the ‘Invincibles’ tag. They will now look to complete a run of 47 domestic league and cup games without defeat. They arrive at Hampden Park having won their last six matches in a row.
The Hoops last appeared in the final of the event way back in 2003, a statistic that once again highlights the enormity of their achievements this term
Aberdeen have had a decent season by their standards having made it to two cup finals and finished second in the league with a total of 76 points. During that spell, they have played their opponents five times, losing all of them. In fact 50% of all the Don’s defeats this term have come against Celtic.
Prediction
The last time these two met in this competition, it was Aberdeen who came out on top. However, that 2-1 fifth-round victory came three years ago. The Dons have struggled against their opponents this term, having lost five and will so well to restrict them to a respectable scoreline in a one-off cup match.
Celtic’s current confidence levels are off the scale and there are very few reasons to consider backing against them this weekend. Those looking for a high value bet could do a lot worse than look at Celtic to win by 3 Or More Goals.
Celtic to win by 3 or more goals can be backed at 16/5 with Betfair. Those looking for a safer bet might consider Celtic to win by 2 or more goals at 21/20.
