Red-hot title favourites Manchester City have won all four of their competitive matches under new boss Pep Guardiola. This weekend, they will be looking to extend their winning streak when they welcome Europe League flops West Ham United to the Etihad stadium.
It’s so far so good for the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss who seems to be taking the pressure of the Premier League in his stride. Back-to-back wins at home to Sunderland and away to Stoke City have left his side perched on the top of the table – albeit at such an early stage of the season.
On top of that, his side completed a 6-0 aggregate Champions League qualifying demolition of Romanian side Steaua Bucharest in midweek. The Sky Blues are adapting quickly to the new methods being implemented by the Spanish Coach and already look like they will be the team to beat in this year’s Premier League title race.
West Ham United christened their new stadium with a win over lowly Bournemouth last week but followed that up with an embarrassing Europe League exit at the hands of Astra Giurgiu in midweek.
Slaven Bilic and his men will want to put that result behind them as quickly as possible by putting in a competitive display against the league’s pace-setters.
While a victory might be beyond the Hammers, it should be noted that they have scored at least one goal in each of their last 15 Premier League matches at home or away. However, they will be missing some key players for this clash including Andy Carroll, Andre Ayew, Sofiane Feghouli, Aaron Cresswell, Doneil Henry and Diafra Sakho.
Meanwhile, City will be without Leroy Sane, Ilkay Gundogan and Vincent Kompany.
Prediction
City will be favourites to win but the price will be short. However, with West Ham’s consistent scoring record, the Match Result and Both Teams to Score market could be worth looking at.
Man City to win and both teams to score can be backed at 17/10 with Betfair.
