Tuesday Premier League – Manchester City vs West Bromich Albion

West Brom: LLDLL

Manchester City welcome a woefully out-of-form West Bromwich Albion side to the Eithad on Tuesday night, the Citizens looking to maintain their three-point advantage over Arsenal in the race for Champions League qualification.

City can leapfrog Liverpool into third place in the Premier League table by extending their ten-game winning streak over their guests. Champions League qualification is the least that fans expect from a team that was touted as title winners before a ball had even been kicked this season. However, Guardiola’s debut term has turned out to be a tougher than expected. As a result, a number of players could be making their last appearance in front of the City faithful as – if rumours are to be believed – the Spaniard is set to begin his revolution in earnest this summer.

The Baggies on the other hand are in the midst of a horrendous run of form. Since reaching the magical 40-point benchmark, Tony Pulis’ men have only gained an extra five points from a possible 30 – a streak comparable with the bottom three.  As a result, they are just seven points clear of the drop zone despite sitting in eighth place in the league. What’s more, rumours still persist that the owners are set to offer the English boss a new and improved contract, something that has left the Baggies faithful feeling slightly perturbed.

The Sky Blues have only lost once on home soil this season, and considering the dire form of the Midlands side, it is hard to make a case for an upset. The head-to-head statistics point to nothing but a home win with 46% of all encounters producing that outcome including the last seven in Manchester.

Prediction: Everything points to a home win to nil. Those looking for an alternative option could do worse than back David Silva in the anytime goal scorer market.

You can back the Home Win to Nil at 8/11 and David Silva as Anytime Goalscorer at 15/8 with Betfair.
