Sun 24 Nov 2013 13:30 – Man City v Spurs (Etihad Stadium)

Referee: Martin Atkinson

Manchester City may not have the form of Champions away from home, but on home soil they are devastating and they are currently the league’s leading scorers. So how will they fair against the tightest away defence in the league? Their 100% home record suggests that this should be a formality for the home side and despite conceding and average of just 0.2 goals on the road, Tottenham have also struggled to score themselves. Compare this to Man City who score an average of 4 goals in every home game.

Both teams have had a few injury issues recently but they also have strong enough squads to cope with the losses and should not be affected too much. The biggest loss for City has been Vincent Kompany but it is away from home that they have missed his presence the most.

Spurs have yet to play in an away game with more than 2.5 goals and this looks like it could be a good option as their good defensive record could restrict Man City to a sensible score line this week. Man City are very likely to win the most corners in this match having done so in every home game so far this season.

Whichever way you look at this game, a home win is the only likely outcome. Tottenham do not have a great record against the top five teams and City are relentless on home soil. In summary, Man City should win the most corners in a home win with less than 2.5 goals. Sergio Aguero is also a good option for first or anytime scorer.

Match prediction: Man City 2-0 Tottenham
