Predicting that both teams will score in a football match is a simple betting concept that has grown massively in popularity over recent years. As a result, it is worth looking at some statistics to see if there any trends in this market.

With half a season gone, it is a good time to see which football teams are regular offenders in this market and maybe worth backing. To do this, we will look across the top two tiers of all the European leagues to identify the teams with a strike rate of 80% or more either at home, away or combined.

First up, let’s look at the teams with a combined BTTS ratio of 80% or more for both their home and away games. These figures are regardless of opponent and only include league matches.

Both team to score – highest combined %

A.S. Cittadella (Italy, Serie B): 81.00%

Both teams have scored in 81% of the games involving this side from the second tier of Italian football. Citta have not won a game to nil all season and have only kept a clean sheet in 9% of their games. So far, they have conceded a goal in every home game and have failed to score in just 19% of all their games. Overall, they have paid out in the BTTS market in 17 out of their 21 games. Their percentage split is 80% for home games and 81.8% for away games.

Trapani Calcio (Italy, Serie B): 81.00%

Our second team is Sicilian side Trapani who also reside in Serie B. The Granata also have an overall 81% BTTS ratio but the percentage split is 90% for home games and 72.7% for away games. They have the proud record of scoring in every home game this season while only keeping one clean sheet.

Dundee (Scottish Premier League): 80.00%

Dundee are the only other team in Europe to have a combined BTTS ratio of 80% or higher. They have also scored in every home game this season but have only kept one clean sheet. It is at home where they excel with a 90% strike rate compared to a slightly less impressive 70% away from home. They have scored in all but one of their away games but have kept a clean sheet in 30% of their games on the road.

The next teams we will look at are the ones with BTTS ratios of 80% or higher for home games only (not including teams already covered).

Both team to score – highest home %

Stade Laval (Ligue 2): 88.9%

Just behind Dundee and Trapani in the home BTTS league is French second division side Stade Laval. The team known as Les Tangos have an 88.9% strike rate at home in the Goals Galore market. Their only failure in this category was a 0-0 draw to Ajaccio back in August. They have not won to nil at home this season and have managed to draw five out of nine home games.

Brechin (Scottish League One): 87.5%

Brechin are a good pick for you BTTS coupon, as long as they are playing at home. All but one of their eight home games has finished with both sides on the score sheet.

Trabzonspor (Süper Lig): 87.5%

Apart from a 0-0 draw at the start of the season, both teams have scored in every other Turkish league game at the Hüseyin Avni Aker Stadium this term and the Black Sea Storm have yet to win to nil at home.

A.S. Varese 1910 (Italy, Serie B): 81.80%

The third team from the Italian second tier to feature in our list is A.S. Varese 1910. They had a 100% ratio in their home games until the end of December, but two recent home victories “to nil” have hinted at some defensive improvements. Has the Goals Galore bubble has burst for the Leopardi?

VfL Bochum (2 Bundesliga): 80.00%

The first team from Germany to feature on our list have a decent home record in the BTTS market. They have only failed to score once, have kept just one clean sheet and have also won to nil on just one occasion. November was the only month when their home games did not pay out.

Our final group of teams are those with a high percentage in the away category only.

Both team to score – highest away %

Zulte Waregem (Jupiler Pro League): 90.9%

The highest score in any category can be found in the Belgian Pro league where 90.9% of Zulte Waregem’s away games have finished with both teams on the score sheet. The Belgian side still had a 100% record until their recent trip to Mouscron-Peruwelz resulted in their first clean sheet on the road this season. Was it just a blip for the BTTS away specialists?

AD Alcorcón (Liga Adelante): 88.9%

The first Spanish team on our Goals Galore away hotlist are the minnows from Madrid. Los Alfareros have netted in every away game and conceded in all but one.

West Ham (Premier League): 88.9%

West Ham are the first Premier League to make the list and they are many punters’ BTTS banker when playing away from home. With no clean sheets, no wins to nil and just one game without a goal, Sam Alladyce’s Hammer’s are a coupon favourite. Their trip to Chelsea was the only away game that has not paid out for the East Londoners this season.

Eintracht Frankfurt (Bundesliga): 87.5%

Seven out of eight of the German side’s away games have resulted in both teams scoring. A failure to score in Hannover back in November is the only blot on their Goals Galore copybook.

Kayseri Erciyesspor (Süper Lig): 87.5%

With the exception of a 0-0 stalemate at Genclerbirligi back in October, the Turkish club have been Goals Galore winners in every other away game.

PSV Eindhoven (Eredivisie): 87.5%

Despite conceding very few goals at home, the Boeren are great for a BTTS bet when playing on the road with just one game out of eight failing to hit the mark.

Blackburn Rovers (Championship): 83.3%

An away strike rate of 10 in 12, including the last six in a row, makes impressive reading for all fans of multi-goal bets.

Chelsea (Premier League): 81.8%

Jose Mourinho’s team slipped down the BTTS away league after visits to Sunderland and Stoke in November and December, but 81.8% is still an impressive ratio.

Pescara (Serie B): 81.8%

No team in Italy has a higher BTTS ratio away from home than Pescara. This weekend, they travel to the aforementioned Trapani Calcio, a team that just happens to have a 90% home ratio.

US Créteil (League 2): 80.00%

An 80% ratio equates to eight out of 10 away games ending with multi-goals for the French side. That’s a decent score and means they are still a strong coupon candidate.

Las Palmas (Liga Adelante): 80.00%

Another eight out of 10 strike rate keeps the Canary Islanders in contention, but a failure last time out has pushed them down to the 80% benchmark – definitely one to keep an eye on.
